The Public Affairs Committee of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) is pleased to bring you its 2020 September report. We are happy to announce that a new committee member has joined our team: Dr. Sateesh Arja, Associate Professor of Clinical Skills and Medical Education and Executive Dean at Avalon University School of Medicine. In Memoriam

1. Adeline ‘Addie’ Fagan, MD, a graduate of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Class of 2019, died Sept. 19 due to COVID-19 complications.

1. ScholarRx is announcing a call for grant applications as part of the Medical Education Research and Innovation Challenge (MERIC), a novel program designed to promote global educational scholarship and innovation. Letter of Intent Deadline: Dec 1, 2020.

2. Spencer Foreman Award for Outstanding Community Engagement. Nominations are due Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:59 PM. 

3. Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 2, 2021, 11:59 pm EST.

4. Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Awards. Nominations are due Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:59 PM. 

5. Herbert W. Nickens Award for outstanding contributions to promoting justice in medical education and health care equity in the US. Deadline: Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:59 PM.
